What volunteers do

On the water

Dock & boat crew

Ask about dock setup, participant support, spotting, equipment, and other current water-program assignments. Boat and personal-watercraft driving is a separate skilled role.

On the courts

Court & gym crew

Set up and coach wheelchair rugby, wheelchair football, and open gym nights at the Georgia Farrow Recreation Center in Irving.

Skilled water operations

Boat & personal-watercraft drivers

RISE confirms the current need, credentials, approval, safety training, and supervision before assigning a driver. Do not send licenses or other documents through the public website.

At the campground

Family camping weekends

Staff the ADA campsites at Meadowmere Park: setup, cooking, campfire, cleanup. Families come as families — volunteers keep the weekend running.

Behind the scenes

Drivers & logistics

Drive vans between the parking lot and the dock, haul gear, pick up food, run errands during tournament weekends.

Tournaments

Tournament crews

Wheelchair rugby and wheelchair football tournaments need scorekeepers, stats trackers, ball people, down-marker operators, setup help, and venue support.

Skills you already have

Coaching, media, fundraising

If you coach a sport, take photos, run a food truck, plan events, or work in fundraising — RISE can use it. Tell us what you'd like to do.

Who volunteers

RISE is disability-led, and participants and household members are part of the volunteer community. Individuals and groups can ask about current opportunities; RISE confirms whether the program, date, group size, and supervision are a fit before a visit.

Your first shift

You will not do it alone

Some general roles can start with on-site orientation; skilled or safety-sensitive roles require additional review. Tell RISE what interests you, and RISE will confirm the preparation and supervision for that specific assignment.
